SCRATCH DAY
Exhibition Hall at the Mississippi Children's Museum
Kick off the LeFleur Museum District's Mississippi Science Fest at Scratch Day on September 14, 2024! This is a day dedicated to exposing children and families to hands-on coding and STEM programming. During this event, guests will engage in learning with light up foam animals, a robot playground and an opportunity to create a unique digital family banner using Scratch coding system! Thanks to the C Spire Foundation, the first 300 registrants will receive free admission to the Mississippi Children’s Museum! This event is free and open to the public.

Topics during this day will include STEAM education, preparing the workforce for the technology and AI-based jobs of the future, and how communities can develop plans to capitalize on the new technological opportunities for growth.

C SPIRE C3 Jr. CODING CHALLENGE

The C Spire C3 Jr. event is an invitation only that includes elementary age students from schools and organizations across the state. These students will be challenged to use their technical abilities and critical thinking skills to navigate through obstacles. Our hope is to inspire children to pursue an academic and career path that includes information technology and computer science.
Twenty-two teams from across the state have been invited to the Mississippi Children’s Museum in Jackson and Meridian to
participate in C3 Jr, a coding challenge uniquely designed for elementary age students. Teams comprised of four fourth grade
students will be guided through coding challenges by a C Spire Mentor, treated to lunch compliments of C Spire, and participate
in an awards ceremony at the conclusion of the challenge.

In partnership with the MS Science Fest, the Lefleur Museum District invites you to attend a special STEM-themed Field Trip Friday! On Friday, September 20, the LeFleur Museum District will host a day dedicated to promoting STEM subjects and increasing science literacy for our field trip guests.
On this special day, your students will be some of the select few who have the opportunity to spend their field trip time interacting with nationally renowned STEM professionals and engaging in unique, hands on activities that align and connect directly to the science and math content taught in your classroom. Students attending Field Trip Friday will have an opportunity to participate in hands-on experiments, interactive exhibits, and see classroom science lessons come to life.

Join us for the Mississippi Children’s Museum’s Pawns N’ Pajamas Chess Tournament on Friday, September 20, 2024! Participants are encouraged to come dressed in their coziest pajamas for this after-hours event. Guests will also enjoy a science demonstration from Science Girl’s Lab!
