Join us for the 2021 MS Science Fest!
The 6th Annual Mississippi Science Fest (MSF), presented by C Spire, is a fun event hosted by the four museums of Jackson, Mississippi's LeFleur Museum District (LMD) on September 16-18, 2021.
The MSF showcases the Magnolia State's innovative science, technology, engineering, and mathematic (STEM) industries and organizations. This year, the event is will be in-person and virtual!
* September 16: Science After 6

* September 18: MS Science Fest featuring Guest Speaker, Dr. Temple Grandin
On Saturday, September 18th, your ticket will include parking and your shuttle ride between museums from 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Masks are required on shuttles.
Food trucks and vendors will also be on-site. Visit the MS Agriculture Museum's General Store, MS Children's Museum's Red Rocket Cafe (open 9 am – 4 pm), or one of several food trucks (10:30 am - 3:30 pm, not included with admission).
ABOUT THE LMD: The LeFleur Museum District, located in Jackson, MS at I-55 and Lakeland Drive, brings together four uniquely amazing museums and is the 2018 recipient of the Southeast Tourism Society's Shining Example Partnership Award for cooperative tourism work:

- 2 p.m. - NASA - Interactive Zoom: James Webb Space Telescope's (JWST) Observations of Supermassive Black Holes!
- The JWST is the largest space telescope ever constructed. Assistant Professor Francisco Muller Sanchez of the Department of Physics and Materials Science from the University of Memphis, will present the science behind two accepted cycle 1 JWST proposals about supermassive black holes, in which he is the Principal Investigator. The analyses of the JWST data will provide the most detailed characterization of the environment around active supermassive black holes to date. Specifically, we will be able to show how these objects are fed and how they influence their host galaxies.
- ABOUT THE JWST: The JWST will complement and extend the discoveries of the Hubble Space Telescope, with longer wavelength coverage and greatly improved sensitivity. The JWST is being developed by NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration in partnership with the European and Canadian Space Agencies, with science observations proposed by the international astronomical community in a manner similar to Hubble.
